What is it?

Jerudong Park is Brunei's biggest theme park, with rides, bumper cars, a Ferris wheel, and an outdoor concert stage. It sits on the coast not far from the capital, Bandar Seri Begawan. Families and children from all over Brunei come here to have fun together.

When Jerudong Park first opened in 1994, it had some of the most exciting rides in all of Southeast Asia. People were so excited that huge crowds came to enjoy the attractions. There was even a live concert stage where famous international musicians performed under the stars.

The park is set in a large green area with gardens and wide open spaces. On weekends, families set out picnic blankets on the grass, children run between attractions, and the smell of food from the stalls drifts through the warm evening air. It is one of the most popular places for Bruneians to relax together.

Over the years the park has been refreshed with new rides and attractions. Today it includes go-karts, an amphitheatre for shows, fairground games, and plenty of food. Visiting at night is extra special because the rides light up with thousands of coloured lights reflected in the sea air.

Classroom activity

Design your own dream theme park on a large sheet of paper. Draw a map from above and mark at least five attractions, two food stalls, a stage, and a picnic area. Give your park a name and write a short advertisement for it — three sentences to make other children want to visit.
